Naomh : Cailleach + Claudia Kuner

Rooftop sessions: Through transcendent vocals, Scottish smallpipes, Gaelic language, guitars, live looping, and storytelling, the Cailleach is reawoken.

Before the great floods, she wandered the lands. When everything we know is gone, she will remain. She is earth. She is ancestor. The Cailleach is very old, and near-forgotten. Few of her songs have been translated from her native Gaelic. Through transcendent vocals, Scottish smallpipes, Gaelic language, guitars, live looping, and storytelling, the Cailleach is reawoken in a new land. A collaboration between Naarm-based musicians Laura Campbell, Sam Hall, and the waterways of Wurundjeri country. “Hypnotic” “Music the world needs” With Claudia Kuner: Claudia is a freelance cellist and creative from Naarm/Melbourne. She is a graduate of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. She has performed and collaborated in projects across Australia and Europe. Her musical practice revolves around improvisation and the exploration of sound, discovered through alternative and extended techniques. Rooted in intuition, her work is an unfolding process of unlearning and redefining what years of classical cello training have taught her. She creates sonic landscapes, sometimes warm and sunlit, sometimes damp, earthy, and textural.
