Wonk & Whimsy: SHOW AND TELL

A show-and-tell/special interests share night.

Together we'll unabashedly celebrate our weird and wonderful obsessions, the gloriously mundane, and the totally, fabulously niche. Here's how it'll work: We shall gather, leave the stress of the day behind, and prepare for whimsy. Sit together and share our passions and interests (the more niche, or weird, the better!) through chats, presentations, and mini-games. You can present if you want, or just come along to enjoy! (optional) Bring an object you'd like to talk about! It can be something that evokes a memory or means something special to you. It can be something interesting or weird. It can be something you'd like to show off or something you'd like to give away. It can be whatever happens to be in your pocket! We'd love to hear about it! (optional) Make crafts while you listen! Each share is 10 minutes or less. It can take the form of a chat, a PowerPoint, or a traditional show and tell. You can read a poem you like, share a song, show a meme, and we can talk about it - anything! This is a sharing, and we'd love, love, love, to be shared with! If you want to send through a presentation ahead of time, you can do that here - https://forms.gle/SJhVkSkAMLNik6ZC6 Rules: No judgement zone, how often can we just be unabashedly enthusiastic about how cool and weird the world is?! If you give a presentation; "What should I give a presentation on?" - anything! No, you don't have to have any qualifications in your subject, or indeed have any idea what you're talking about. It's a sharing, not a performance. You do not have to be good; there is no such thing. Niche-ness is encouraged; tell us about frogs, or trains, or an obscure theory of metaphysics, or about the life and times of Chappell Roan; BUT we'd also love to hear about the glands on a specific frog, the turf war between rival designers of particular trains, an obscure definitional repudiation of piece of metaphysics, or a deep dive on just the first verse of "Pink Pony Club" - what are the things you never get to talk about! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Note: The venue can be a little tricky to find! Think of it like a treasure hunt: Follow your feet; What you seek, Is down the rear laneway, Off of Budd Street! (https://maps.app.goo.gl/qyJ8Ai1B7scn3fD68)
How to get here

You're closer than your map thinks.

Trainscendence sits in a secret laneway behind 6/48 Easey Street, Collingwood. Maps will drop you on Easey Street outside Easey Burger restaurant — that’s almost right. Walk one street east to Budd Street, turn left and look for the laneway “Rolling Stock Laneway”, and follow it in. Enter through the Trainscendence archway on the left.
