A 21st they'll genuinely never forget
The 21st birthday venue Melbourne won't shut up about
No one's 21st should peak at a backyard with a Bluetooth speaker. Two vintage train carriages on a Collingwood rooftop, six bars, seven themed rooms, and a setup that makes every photo look intentional. We handle the bar, the door, the host — you just show up and turn 21.
Bar minimums from $1,000 · weeknight · capacity 60-400
A 21st is the first time most people throw a real party for themselves. The bar is set somewhere between "uni house party" and "wedding reception" — yours can sit anywhere on that line, and Trainscendence works for either end.
Pick a single themed room for an intimate 50-100 person night. Take the rooftop for a 120-person main event. Or take the whole building for the kind of 21st people compare every other 21st to for the next decade.
- ✓60 to 400 capacity — works for a tight friend group or a "I invited the whole year level" night
- ✓Six bars across the building — no queuing, no cash bar drama
- ✓Two vintage Hitachi train carriages on the rooftop — yes, you can do speeches inside the train
- ✓In-house event host runs the night — parents can come and not have to organise anything
- ✓Weeknight bar minimums from $1,000 — workable on a 21-year-old budget
- ✓BYO playlist, BYO theme, BYO weird ideas — we've seen weirder

Things people ask
How much does a 21st at Trainscendence cost?
There's no flat venue-hire fee — instead we use a bar minimum spend that varies by room and night. Weeknights start at $1,000 (small themed rooms) and scale up to $5,000+ for the whole rooftop on a Saturday. Whatever your guests drink at the bar counts toward that minimum, so for most 21sts of 50+ people, the minimum is hit naturally and there's effectively no venue cost on top.
How many people can come?
Depends on which space. The whole rooftop fits 120 standing. A single themed room fits 60-100. Whole-venue takeovers fit up to 400. Tell us your headcount in the enquiry and we'll suggest the right fit.
Can under-18s come (siblings, cousins)?
Yes, with a parent or guardian, until 9pm. After 9pm we're an 18+ venue. If you want a family-friendly afternoon arvo for the relatives followed by a late-night for the friends, that works perfectly — Sunday afternoons are great for this.
Can we do speeches or a slideshow?
Yes — every room has audio with mic input, and we can set up a screen for embarrassing childhood photo slideshows. Our event host can run formalities so your parents don't have to.
Can we have food?
Yes — three options. (1) Our preferred external caterer Fabulous Catering delivers to the venue, invoiced separately. (2) Some rooms allow you to BYO platters or order pizzas in. (3) For larger or curated events, we can arrange custom canapés and drinks packages. We'll talk options based on your event.
Can we decorate the room?
Yes, within reason. No nails in walls or anything that damages the rooms (which all already have a lot of personality). Balloons, flowers, photo backdrops, custom signage — totally fine. Confetti — please ask first because we've had cleanup adventures.
Can we play our own music or DJ?
Absolutely. Each themed room has its own audio setup — connect via Bluetooth, AUX, or bring a DJ. We can also book one of our preferred DJs for you if that's easier. Sound-isolated walls between rooms mean your music won't bleed into someone else's event next door.
How do I get there from the city?
We're on Easey Street in Collingwood, a 15-minute Uber from the CBD or a short walk from Collingwood station (Mernda/Hurstbridge lines). Look up at the back of Easey Street — you'll see two trains on the rooftop. That's us.
