A work Christmas party people RSVP yes to

The Christmas party venue Melbourne teams actually look forward to

You've done the hotel ballroom Christmas party. The "Mediterranean grazing buffet" Christmas party. The "private function room above the pub" Christmas party. Now do one with two vintage train carriages on a Collingwood rooftop and watch attendance hit 100% for the first time.

Bar minimums from $1,000 · weeknight · capacity 60-400 · Nov–Dec
Christmas parties are the one work event your team is genuinely allowed to enjoy. Don't waste it on a venue you'd host a quarterly review in. Trainscendence makes a Christmas party feel like a Christmas party. Themed rooms instead of beige carpet. Six bars instead of one slow one. Two vintage train carriages on a rooftop instead of a generic "function space." And bar minimums that go straight to drinks for the team, not to a "venue hire" line item.
  • Capacity 60-400 — single team Christmas dinner or a 300-person all-company knees-up
  • Two vintage train carriages on the rooftop — Christmas photos that don't look like every other office party
  • Six bars — no queues, no minimum-spend stress for guests
  • Custom canapé + drinks packages, or BYO catering through our preferred provider
  • AV in every room for awards, speeches, year-in-review reels
  • Late November and Sunday afternoons in December usually still open even when Friday/Saturday nights are full
Common questions

Things people ask

How much does a Christmas party at Trainscendence cost?
There's no flat venue-hire fee — instead we use a bar minimum spend that varies by room and night. Weeknights start at $1,000 (small themed rooms) and scale up to $5,000+ for the whole rooftop on a Saturday. Whatever your guests drink at the bar counts toward that minimum, so for most Christmas partys of 50+ people, the minimum is hit naturally and there's effectively no venue cost on top.
How many people can come?
Depends on which space. The whole rooftop fits 120 standing. A single themed room fits 60-100. Whole-venue takeovers fit up to 400. Tell us your headcount in the enquiry and we'll suggest the right fit.
When do Christmas party dates fill up?
Friday and Saturday nights in December are usually gone by mid-September. Weeknights and Sundays stay open into November. If you're reading this in October, send the enquiry today — we can usually still find something.
Can we run secret santa, awards or a kids' arvo?
Yes to all. AV in every room handles slideshows. Sunday afternoon Christmas parties with kids until 5pm and adults-only after work really well. Tell us in the brief what you want to run.
Can we have food?
Yes — three options. (1) Our preferred external caterer Fabulous Catering delivers to the venue, invoiced separately. (2) Some rooms allow you to BYO platters or order pizzas in. (3) For larger or curated events, we can arrange custom canapés and drinks packages. We'll talk options based on your event.
Can we decorate the room?
Yes, within reason. No nails in walls or anything that damages the rooms (which all already have a lot of personality). Balloons, flowers, photo backdrops, custom signage — totally fine. Confetti — please ask first because we've had cleanup adventures.
How do I get there from the city?
We're on Easey Street in Collingwood, a 15-minute Uber from the CBD or a short walk from Collingwood station (Mernda/Hurstbridge lines). Look up at the back of Easey Street — you'll see two trains on the rooftop. That's us.
